Air Pic on SE coast of Mauritius showing 1810 French island fort Ile de La Passe ,
guarding cap in barrier reef and site of Battle of Grand Port 1810 'twixt French and
British warships. Four RN ships lost but French defeated by two companies of Dublin
Fusiliers and detachment of Royal Marines landed on the NW coast . The fought their way
across the island. But decided then to resign and stay !.

Later most were rounded up, charged with mutiny and shot. on the orders of the English
pro tem governor. !!!.
